The Model 88, a new SE monoblock

The AUDIOPAX Model 88s are 30w single-ended pentode monoblocks operating in the firm's proprietary PTS Perfect Triode Simulation output stage. It combines two discreet amplifier halves with their own output transformers in series at the outputs, a proprietary technique dubbed ASTAT for Asymmetrical Series-Twin Amplifier Topology.

These output transformers are slightly dissimilar to mimic the timbral purity of 45 or 2A3 type micro-power triodes as a function of harmonic distortion behavior. To provide the end user with a facility to further optimize the amplifier/speaker interface, two bias control knobs dubbed Timbre Lock fine-tune this harmonic distortion behavior between amplifier and loudspeaker.

Timbre Lock employs circular rings of LEDs for setting confirmation and requires no voltmeter or screw driver adjustments. The LEDs remain part of the audio circuit only during adjustments and are otherwise bypassed.

The AUDIOPAX Model 88s use cryogenically treated KT88s output tubes and 12AT7 pre-drivers.
The rear panel features a high-quality gold-plated Cardas RCA input, Cardas Rhodium-plated 5-way speaker terminals, a power IEC inlet, a brass plaque, and a circuit breaker that replaces the customary fused power switch and activates a relay to control in-rush current.
